Some respiratory protection training material to soon be available online

Responders looking to gain valuable respiratory protection skills will soon have a number of online resources to assist them, courtesy of FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness.

Curriculum developers and course instructors at the center are in the final stages of transferring to online delivery a number of modules from its popular Respiratory Protection: Program Development and Administration course.  The course provides those in the fire, law enforcement, and healthcare fields, and others, the skills needed to develop and administer a comprehensive respiratory protection program, and normally culminates with students practicing their skills in the CDP’s Chemical, Ordnance, Biological and Radiological, or COBRA, Training Facility.

In addition to transferring the key textbook material from the course to online delivery, the team is creating a number of videos to walk responders through how to properly fit test masks, as well as how to clean and disinfect masks and other respiratory equipment.

All of the material should be available in the coming weeks on or via the CDP web site at https://cdp.dhs.gov/.
