Updated BERT Course ready for implementation

The Basic Emergency Response Training (BERT) Course at FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) has been updated and is ready for implementation.

While the revised version of the course has not yet been placed on the CDP’s training schedule, it includes several changes proposed by former students.

The three-day resident offering teaches responders how to assess and work scenes with hazardous materials. This includes how to identify basic hazardous materials and select and operate detection and air monitoring instruments, as well as how to triage and decontaminate individuals who have been exposed to hazardous materials.
