CDP’s Tribal Nations Training Week to include law enforcement training
CDP's Law Enforcement Track offered during this year’s Tribal Nations Training Week.
The Law Enforcement Track offered at FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness during this year’s Tribal Nations Training Week provides hands-on, immersive training in three areas, including active shooter, drone assessment and public order and public safety.
The Law Enforcement Active Shooter Emergency Response course enhances preparedness for active shooter incidents by applying risk-based decision-making and tactical movement. Students will learn to engage threats, provide emergency bleeding care and process rooms safely.
Drone Assessment and Response Tactics provides first responders with an understanding of Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) components, uses, and the threats posed by criminal and terrorist activities. Students will explore tracking, assessment, and response methods as well as the reporting procedures for suspicious or unsafe UAS activity.
The CDP’s Public Order and Public Safety-Executive course trains participants in critical thinking and intuitive decision-making skills necessary for safe and effective crowd management. Through comprehensive instruction on legal perspectives, crowd dynamics, demonstrator tactics, and force multipliers, participants will gain a thorough understanding of public assembly and the importance of civil rights protections.
The 2026 Tribal Nations Training Week will feature courses in 11 separate tracks: Cyber, Healthcare Leadership, Healthcare Emergency Response, Hazardous Materials, Law Enforcement, Community Safety, Tribal Emergency Operations Planning, Executive, Explosives, Strategic National Stockpile and Incident Command.
This week of training, scheduled for September 12-19, is intended for state, local, tribal, and territorial responders who work in an emergency response capacity and are affiliated with one or more tribal nations or the Indian Health Service.
