Cybersecurity among featured tracks for Tribal Nations Training Week
FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) will host its 11th annual Tribal Nations Training Week Sept. 12-19 on the CDP campus in Anniston, Alabama.
One of the newest tracks in the weeklong training event, the Cyber Track, trains participants to identify and plan for cyber incidents, develop robust cyber preparedness programs, and enhance information sharing and situational awareness. The CDP is providing these five courses through a partnership with the National Cyber Preparedness Consortium.
The Preparing for Cyber Attacks and Incidents course helps participants identify and differentiate cyber threats, understand the importance of incident planning, and develop or revise cyber preparedness programs.
Responders will explore the dynamics of community cyber-attacks and select effective cybersecurity functions to boost organizational and community resilience in the Community Cybersecurity Preparedness Simulation course.
Through the Practical Internet of Things Security course, students will gain an understanding of communication and data collection methods, analyze how threat actors target devices, and learn practical techniques for defending systems against cyber threats.
Critical Thinking and Risk Management in a Cyber-Converged World examines the principles of critical thinking in risk assessment, reviews common risk management models and terminology, and applies the Factor Analysis of Information Risk Model to enhance risk management programs.
Integrating Cyber Hazard Response into Exercise Planning will train attendees to understand Internet of Things communication, data collection, threat actor tactics, and defense strategies for computer systems through incorporating responses to cyber hazards into planning exercises.
This week of training is intended for state, local, tribal, and territorial responders who work in an emergency response capacity and are affiliated with one or more tribal nations or the Indian Health Service.
