HAZMAT openings in June at the CDP

🚨 The Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) has seat openings for upcoming hazardous materials courses in June 2026!

Hazardous Materials Operations (HMO)

Join us June 7-12 for the HMO course. The five-day HMO course equips responders with operations-level HAZMAT skills, including hands-on exercises in the CDP’s COBRA Training Facility—the only facility in the nation where civilian responders can train with hazardous biological materials and toxic chemical agents.

Hazardous Materials Technologies: Sampling, Monitoring, and Detection (HT)

The HT course, offered June 7-12 and 14-20, teaches responders to use instruments at the scene of chemical and hazardous materials incidents, also featuring practical exercises in COBRA. Both courses are accredited for 4 CEUs.

Hazardous Materials Technician (HMT)

From June 14-20, the CDP offers the HMT course. The five-day HMT prepares participants to respond safely and effectively at the technician level, culminating in simulated HAZMAT scenarios. Graduates may take the Pro Board and International Fire Service Accreditation Congress exam for HAZMAT Technician certification through the Alabama Fire College. Accredited for 4 CEUs.

Incident Command: Capabilities, Planning and Response Actions for All Hazards (IC)

The IC course runs June 22-27, 2026, and is designed for management-level responders who supervise hazardous materials incidents. Participants evaluate threats, prioritize targets, measure capabilities, and discuss Incident Response and Action Plan processes. Accredited for 2.4 CEUs.
