Seats available in upcoming courses

The Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) has seat openings in two upcoming hazardous materials courses – Hazardous Materials Technologies: Sampling, Monitoring, and Detection (HT) during the week of October 29 to November 4 and Hazardous Materials Awareness (HMA) the week of November 27 to 30.

HT challenges hazardous materials responders to demonstrate learned skills in response to a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or explosive (CBRNE) incident in various settings, including the CDP’s Chemical, Ordnance, Biological, and Radiological Training Facility (COBRATF). The COBRATF is the only place in the country where civilian responders train with hazardous biological materials and chemical agents.

HMA teaches responders essential awareness-level hazardous materials competencies as defined by NFPA 1072: Standard for Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Emergency Response Personnel Professional Qualifications and NFPA 472: Standard for Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Incidents. Students use hazard communication documents to identify hazardous materials risks and decide awareness-level response actions.
