Snapshot: Hazardous Materials Technician Course

Hazardous materials teams respond to simulated chemical incidents during an exercise in the Hazardous Materials Technician (HMT) course at the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP). During the CDP’s five-day HMT, based on NFPA® 470: Standard for Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Emergency Response Personnel Professional Qualifications, students learn HAZMAT-specific response concepts and skills, enabling them to respond safely and effectively to an incident at the hazardous materials technician level.
