The CDP, in partnership with DHS’ Office for Bombing Prevention, now offers online learning courses

The CDP, in partnership with DHS’ Office for Bombing Prevention, is now offering four awareness-level online learning courses for first responders.

The courses are as follows:

(AWR-358) Hazardous Materials Awareness, This online learning course provides students from all backgrounds with knowledge and practical experience in essential, awareness-level hazardous materials competencies as defined by NFPA 472: Standard for Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Incidents. The course provides training for proficiency in identifying hazardous materials utilizing the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Emergency Response Guidebook to identify hazardous materials risks and protective actions, utilizing hazard communication documents to identify hazardous material risks, protective actions, and determining awareness-level personal and public protective actions. AWR-358 offers 0.8 continuing education units.

(AWR-358-R) Hazardous Materials Awareness Refresher, This online learning course provides students with the annual refresher training necessary to maintain a Hazardous Materials Awareness-Level certification. The course provides students from all backgrounds with knowledge and practical experience in essential, awareness-level hazardous materials competencies as defined by NFPA 472: Standard for Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Incidents. The course provides training for proficiency in identifying hazardous materials utilizing the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Emergency Response Guidebook to identify hazardous materials risks and protective actions, utilizing hazard communication documents to identify hazardous material risks, protective actions, and determining awareness-level personal and public protective actions.

(AWR-903-W) Bomb Threat Preparedness and Response Computer-Based Training, This one-hour online learning course is for public and private sector managers and employees working in a variety of critical infrastructure sectors and businesses, including schools, medical facilities, offices, sports venues and mass gathering facilities, and other locations that may receive a bomb threat.

(AWR-349) Homemade Explosive (HME) and Precursor Awareness for Public Safety Computer-Based Training, This online learning course serves as a comprehensive course of instruction to share HME and precursor information to a broad audience. This course provides learners foundational knowledge on HME, common precursor chemicals, and bomb-making materials that are used to create them.
