Overview

Emerging and Resurging Infectious Diseases will provide a contextual understanding of the nature of emergent and resurgent diseases and a practical approach for mitigating the risks associated with infection. Discussion will include the emergence and resurgence of a variety of infectious diseases including Zika Virus, Chikungunya, Ebola, Enterovirus D68, Measles, MERS, drug-resistant shigellosis, cyclosporiasis, Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, COVID 19, and extensively drug resistant (XDR) TB. Also discussed will be how the awareness of the modes of contagion, the risks of infection, and the appropriate means of protection from the point of contact to presentation at a healthcare facility is critical to protect the well-being of patients and providers.
