Alabama State Troopers Prepare Field Forces

More than 200 Alabama State Troopers will complete training at FEMA's Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) early this year. Alabama's Department of Public Safety plans to send more than half of the state's Troopers through training over the next several weeks.

The CDP has incorporated new e-reader technology into training that reduces production cost. The CDP hopes the use of electronics in the classroom enhances adult learning and reduces the amount of paper and other student materials commonly used in a classroom environment.
Technology Modernizes Learning Environment, Saves Money

In July 2012, FEMA's Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) incorporated electronic-based strategies in the classroom. By removing traditional paper course materials from approximately 40 percent of its courses, the CDP saves $100,000 on average a year in production costs.

Alabama State Troopers return to CDP for Field Force Training

A second wave of State Troopers, representing the great state of Alabama, kicked off training this week. Nearly 50 of the Troopers attended training at FEMA's Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP). Alabama's Department of Public Safety will send close to 200 State Troopers through training over the next several weeks.

Students attending the Healthcare Leadership for Mass Casualty Incidents (HCL) course operate the Emergency Department of the CDP's Noble Training Facility. The NTF is the only hospital in the nation solely dedicated to training healthcare professionals for mass casualty response.

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill.-A violent tornado outbreak created havoc across seven states, Nov. 17. Records revealed this was the most fierce tornado event ever during the month of November. Around 1 p.m., the town of Gifford and other parts of Champaign County experienced crippling winds as three tornados left thousands without power, destroyed water systems and badly damaged public infrastructure.
