Hazardous Materials Awareness Train the Trainer

This course provides the student with the knowledge and validation of skills required to successfully plan, coordinate, conduct, and administer the HMA course. The course reviews HMA learning objectives, instructional strategies, subject matter, and key teaching points for each module and activity. The course requires the successful completion of a performance examination to validate the trainer candidate’s skill in presenting an instructional module. The course also reviews key CDP’s instructional policies and introduces handouts outlining additional policies and administrative procedures. The course concludes with a summary and open forum intended to ensure all
student questions are addressed and that student learning requirements are met.

Target Audience

The target audience for this course is personnel with the requirement or responsibility to plan, coordinate, conduct, and/or administer the HMA course for their designated agency, jurisdiction, or organization.

Prerequisites and Requirements

To be eligible to attend the course, a student will possess the
following requirements:

a. Have a requirement or responsibility to train responders in the knowledge and skills of the HMA

b. Have successfully completed and received a certificate of completion for the HMA course the
day(s) prior, and

c. Have successfully completed the instructor qualification/certification requirements for the
trainer’s agency, jurisdiction, or organization.

Exceptions to any of the above prerequisites may be granted on a case-by-case basis
at the discretion of the CDP’s Registrar.
